Construction Explore

This week was all about CONSTRUCTION!!  We have really enjoyed building with a huge variety of materials.  We also spent a lot of time talking about making a plan for our building BEFORE we built it and knowing what materials we had available.  Some of the children did this very well.

Flight Explore

This week was all about things that FLY!!  We started learning how to make dart, straw planes, straw rockets, helicopters and more...  As the week went on we focus on testing and making changes to our flying machines so they would fly better.  We also were very creative with the mobilo and lego by designing flying machines with all sorts of added extras!

Pirate Explore

Arrr me hearties!!  We have had a fabulous week learning about all things to do with pirates.  One of our favourite things was making treasure maps and then finding treasure on our 'pirate ships'.  We also made treasure chests and pirate masks.  We enjoyed playing pirates with the Te Takaro and using the pirate apps to play pirate games.

Vehicle Explore

This week we have been learning about vehicles!  We have found out that vehicles don't just go on roads but they can go on rail, water and in the air also.  We spent a lot of time outside making ramps and tunnels and measuring how far the cars went.  We enjoyed using some apps on the ipads to make and drive vehicles.  We raced the cars on the race track and built roads for the cars to travel on.  We used construction vehicles to make alsorts of things with the blocks.  We designed vehicles that were different to anything we had ever seen before and explained our designs to others...  PLUS much, muc more!!

Stockcar Visit

We had a visit from Brendon Learmonth.  He is a stockcar driver.  He raced his car around our school track and we were allowed to look inside the car too.  It was FAST and LOUD!!

Robot Explore

What a fun week we have had learning about ROBOTS!!  We sponge painted and drew robots, we programmed the Beebots to do things we wanted them to, we learned about circuits, we made balancing robots and sliding robots, we made robots from mobilo and the rod and ball set.  It was fantastic to see all the creativity and imagination used this week!!
