Detectives Explore!

Last week we learned all about detective and spies! We pretended we were secret agents and dressed up in disguise to sneak around the room without being caught. We learned lots about fingerprints and looked at the different types of fingerprints that people have. We even had to solve a mystery! Check out some photos of us hard at work :)

Jacob cracked the code to solve the mystery sentence!

Mack and Deakin built a secret hideout for the spies

Jacob, Olive, Junior and Courtney looked closely to examine the evidence left in the classroom

Ella use the microscope to learn that she had a loop type fingerprint

Kate and Elliott fingerprinted Mrs Harland to see if she was the culprit...

Geordie used the special spy pen to read the invisible message that was left in the class

Kate examined the fingerprints of teachers against the ones left on our clue...

When Mrs Harland's fingerprint looked similar, Tryton, Liam, Geordie, Kate and Ella used the microscope to look closely and make sure it matched

The microscope helped us see the fingerprints up close

Maelee used the microscope to look closely at the fingerprints...

Building Animals - Workshop

What fun we had building animals with blocks!  We talked about using different shaped blocks to make different parts of the animal, using appropriate sized blocks and thinking of all the parts of an animal to make it as accurate as possible.  I think the children did an amazing job :)

Phoebe and Courtney made a cute cat!  I love the ears on Ezra's elephant!
Look at the fur on the top of this dog made by Angus and Kruz!

Some cute giraffe's made by Maddy and Eva!

I love the 3D horns on Alyssa's giraffe!  Tryton and Jackson made a person!

Van's dinosaur had a huge mouth!  I loved the face on Samuel's dog!

Well done finding enough legs for your animal Elizabeth!

You used the shapes really well Deakin and Joseph!

Great team work on your elephant and unicorn Jayden and Jack!

Sea Animals Explore!

This week we are learning all about animals that live in the sea. With our new friends starting school this term, we have been working hard to make sure we are including others as we explore the activities. We have also been focussing on asking questions and we have had so many great questions we want to find answers to!
Our questions have led us to learn about dorsal fins and their purpose, why some animals can breathe under water and others can't, and lots more new and exciting information.

Here are some photos of us hard at work!

Science Experiments

Look at the fun we had this afternoon experimenting with putting pencils through a plastic bag WITHOUT it leaking!!
We talked about how the pressure on the bag from the water kept the water from leaking out of the bag.
We watched Mr Pike do it first and then we had a turn ourselves!!!
FUN  FUN   FUN

Mr Pike's turn...

Now our turn!!!
